Beschreibung:
The omnibus book with 7 articles by Vygotsky – one of them is given here – was edited posthume by his coworkers Zankov, Shif and Elkonin. This article represents the stenogram of a lecture given May, 20, 1933 at the meeting of the scientific-methodological council of the Leningrad Pedological Institute. It is based on the dissertation of Zhosefina I. Shif and the related chapter of Thinking and speech. The author stresses the idea that it is not sufficient to explore the development of everyday concepts in order to comprehend the mental development of children, and that scientific concepts taught in school develop in an other way than everyday concepts and play a substantial role in the whole mental development. At the same time, their generalities and mutual dependencies are discussed. The author stresses the preliminary character of his presentation.
