Series

ICHS - International Cultural-Historical Human Sciences is a series dedicated to the cultural-historical tradition, a line of research and theory initiated and developed by Lev S. Vygotsky, Alexei N. Leontyev and Alexander R. Luria. In this line of work, human beings and human development are studied in their cultural context and societal-historical determinations. Hereby, activity, the foundation of person-world transactions, constitutes the basic unit of analysis of human development and human forms of life. This unit of analysis is brought to bear both on the perspectives of individual disciplines and on their synthesis to an encompassing theoretical perspective as it pertains to the solution of practical problems.

The series publishes both the texts of the founders of this theoretical approach and of newer works relevant to the solution of current scientific and practical problems as framed by the cultural-historical tradition.

With the appearance of the website ICH-Sciences, its sponsor Lehmanns Online Bookshop also assumes publication of the series from ProBusiness Verlag. Simultaneously, the series "Internationale Studien zur Tätigkeitstheorie" (International Studies of Activity Theory) - previously BdWi-Verlag - was integrated into the ICHS series.

Repeat Order: Those volumes in the ICHS series that have been and are published by Lehmanns Media-LOB may be obtained as part of a continuing order, which decreases the price of each volume by 30 percent with respect to its normal cost.
