Georg Rückriem
Born July 3, 1934 in Rheinberg, Germany. Studies in pedagogy in Osnabrück; graduated in 1955. Studies at Munich University; PhD in pedagogy, philosophy, and history 1959.
Teaching, career, and achievements:
Professor for Systematic Pedagogy at the Teacher Training College in Münster (1968), University of Arts Berlin (1980). Dean in Münster and Berlin. Vice President of the University of Arts Berlin. Professor emeritus since 2002.
Co-founder and vice-chair of the Commission for the history of pedagogy of the German Society for Science of Education (1969). Founder and director of the Developing Group “Berlin Pedagogical Museum”. Organizer of the first International Congress for Cultural Research and Activity Theory (1986). Founder and member of the Standing Committee of the International Society for Cultural Research on Activity Theory (ISCRAT, 1986). Founder and director of the Laboratory Computer and Education Berlin (1994).
Work for BMBW (State Ministry for Economic Cooperation). Consultant for its project “Centro Andino para la Capacitación del Personal Docente” (1971). Chair and coach for conceptional and methodological problems of the project “Berlin embarks on the future society” of the Berlin Senate (1998). Edition of works by Aleksej Nikolaevič Leontyev (since 2000).
Co-founder of the journal Mitteilungen und Materialien of the AG Pädagogisches Museum (1979-1985). Editor of the ISCRAT newsletter (1986 – 1994) Co-founder (with Joachim Lompscher) of the website ICHS (1999) Editor of the ICHS book series (2000) Member of the advisory board of the Journal for East European Psychology (2008)
